The Gift of Giving
As the Christmas season approaches it is easy to get caught up in the mayhem and crazy schedules that often accompany this time of year. Today I took some time out, and visited the genourous ladies who run the charity 'Mummies and Babes in need' and their warehouse based in Seaford Victoria.
This group has been operating for 3 years and they collect various items to supply to women and children in need. The centre is always looking for volunteers and/or donations and are happy for you to drop in at any time during their opening hours of 10.00 - 4.00 Monday-Thursday which is a welcome change from other charities wanting specific 'locked in' times to help out. There are also various collection/drop off points throughout Melbourne.
Todays task was wrapping gifts for needy children in order for them to be delivered to various allocated organisations, as well as compiling hampers of personal and edible items.
The Warehouse in Seaford
This group operates all year round and was commenced on the basis that no child should have to go without essentials. They accept donations of chidren's clothing in any size, women's clothing, toiletries, nappies, books and games. They also accept nursery items but these need to pass safety standards so it is best to contact them to discuss details with them first.
It is easy to get caught up in our own routines, jobs, and social activities but there really are many people out there far less fortunate who really need help not only at Christmas but every day. Anyone wishing to donate items or volunteer their time please contact them via their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Mummies-and-Babes-in-need-552006351483413/timeline or head to the website http://www.msfin.org.au/ for more information.
